Piccolo Coffee

A Miniature Latte that is big on taste

Often served in a small glass or demitasse cup, Piccolo Coffee is popularly hailed as a young coffee drink.

History certainly doesn’t weigh heavily on this latte variant drink, since it was accidentally founded only a few decades back in one of the hip neighborhoods of Sydney. The miniature size of its cup and youthful exuberance coupled with its enticing taste makes this coffee drink one of its kind. ​

While the large part of the world may still not be acquainted with Piccolo Coffee, this scrumptious ristretto drink is steadily making its presence felt in bistros and café chains across the world. And just in case if your neighborhood café doesn’t yet serve Piccolo Coffee, we’ll tell you how to make this premium coffee drink within the comfort of your home.
Equipment needed
  • Espresso maker or Moka pot to make espresso. You can also use French press coffee machine or any other affordable machine to make espresso. 
  • Automate milk frother 
  • Small glass or demitasse glass.
Ingredients Needed
  • Dark roast coffee (to get a good tase make sure that the coffee is made from freshly roasted coffee beans). To get a refine taste, it is equally important to ensure that your coffee is made from 100% Arabic coffee beans. 
  • Only 2 ounces of Milk (remember that one of the peculiar things about Piccolo Coffee is that it uses less quantity of milk).

now to the recipe

1.

Make a single shot espresso with the help of your espresso machine.

Steam and forth milk. If you don’t have automatic frothing machine then use a microwave or simply manually forth the milk. Again, we’d like to remind that using low quantity of milk is critical for making perfect Piccolo Coffee.

Now slowly pour the frothed milk into the small cup that is already laden with espresso. Feel free to indulge in latte art while pouring the milk and once you reached the top layer.
